Friday 16th The first day of the year with multiple butterflies, with a Small Tortoiseshell and a male Brimstone on the Estate. Thursday 15th Our first Red Admiral of the year was seen on the hay bales at the back of the Observatory. Friday 2nd A Peacock was seen around the back of the asparagus fields on the Estate.
Wednesday 24th It was some surprise to see a Small Tortoiseshell fly in off the sea. A strange record and our first butterfly to be recorded this year.
Sunday 17th Another Peacock was seen on New Downs. Friday 8th It was a surprise to record two butterflies today, both Peacocks. One was on New Downs and another on the Worth track.
Tuesday 14th In a lull between wind and rain there was still a Red Admiral by the Haven. Sunday 5th It might have been very stormy but it remains mild and when ever there is a sunny patch Red Admirals are still around on nectar sources plus there is still the occasional Small White.
Sunday 15th Despite the cool northerly conditions a number of Red Admirals were seen to come in off the sea. Saturday 14th A Wall was at Restharrow Scrape.
