Thursday 22nd

There were good counts of 55 Azure and 27 Variable Damselflies on RSPB Worth marshes.

Tuesday 20th

A count of 12 Banded Demoiselles on RSPB Worth marshes was our highest count this year so far. Though this is quite low, recent fieldwork has shown this species to be more abundant than day-to-day walks show and targeted surveys reveal higher populations. Our first Scarce Chaser was also seen. On the Estate there were at least 62 Dainty Damselflies and our first Red-veined Darter and Emperors of the year.

Saturday 17th

At least 80 Variable Damselflies and ten Azure Damselflies, were sheltering around the Great Wood on RSPB Worth marshes.

Friday 16th

An immature female Scarce Blue-tailed Damselfly of the orange aurantica form was discovered in the Dragonfly Fields. This confirms that they bred on the site last year and is a new breeding species for Kent. Also seen were 18 Dainty Damselflies, six Azure Damselflies, three Variable Damselflies, six Common Blue Damselflies, four Damselflies, two Broad-bodied Chasers, and one Black-tailed Skimmer.

Wednesday 14th

Three Banded Demoiselles were on the Green Wall.

Monday 12th

Eight Azure Damselflies, six Common Blue Damselflies, six Dainty Damselflies, three Blue-tailed Damselflies, four Hairy Dragonflies, four Broad-bodied Chasers, one Four-spotted Chaser, and four Black-tailed Skimmers were on the Estate.

Friday 9th

The first sunny day for a while. Our first Four-spotted Chaser was on RSPB Worth marshes and a Black-tailed Skimmer on the Estate.

Thursday 1st
