Wednesday 28th

There were 66 butterflies of 11 species on today's BMS Transect. There was an increase in 'whites' and 'blues' but a decrease in 'browns'.

Tuesday 27th

Hot off the press! A PURPLE HAIRSTREAK was photographed at Stonelees, the first SBBOT record, and the third hairstreak species to be recorded here this year.

Wednesday 21st

Nine species were seen on the Green Wall. This included good numbers of Green-veined White with a minimum of 19 recorded. Also of note were six Commas and ten Speckled Woods.

Saturday 17th

A trip to New Downs produced five Green-veined Whites, four Small Whites, seven Large Whites, 24 Common Blues, two Brown Argus, seven Small Heaths, two Gatekeepers, and 18 Meadow Browns.

Wednesday 14th

The numbers on the BMS transect are really starting to tumble. The total today just crept into triple-figures with 101. Gatekeeper was most numerous with 43, followed by Common Blue with 23.

Monday 5th

There have been very few Common Blues throughout the area this spring and summer, so it was some surprise to see good numbers nectaring on the Sea Holly along Prince's Beach.

Friday 2nd

Eight Walls and our first Marbled White for two weeks were on the Estate.

Thursday 1st

A Brimstone was seen on the Estate.
