Thank you to everyone who contributed moth records to us in 2025. It's been an excellent year. Now is a quieter time for Moth sightings but they will start to appear soon in the New Year. In the mean time, why not plan ahead to come visit us in the summer and see some moths for yourselves? Over 1,300 species have been recorded here, many of which are Nationally Rare. Wednesday 17th

An indication of the continuing mild weather was the presence of four Winter Moths along the Obs track before dawn. There was also a Cream-spot Tiger caterpillar on a fence post along the Haven.

Wednesday 10th

A colder night than expected dropping to 2.5°C but nonetheless five moths were present in the Car Park trap - singles each of Mottled Umber, Satellite, Winter Moth, Crocidosema plebejana and Light Brown Apple Moth.

Wednesday 3rd

Another night of comparatively high temperatures, though our standards are being lowered to anything above freezing. A trap behind the Ringing Room netted a Rusty Dot Pearl and December Moth and an actinic in the Whitehouse performed well with nine Winter Moths and a Mottled Umber.
