Guy de Rose - Trustee

Originally from Reigate in Surrey, as a child I spent most of my time outside exploring the local fields and woods; occasionally building dams in the local stream. It was in my early teens that I really got interested in birds and I have been a fan of them ever since.

I have had experience in a number of different jobs, from laying concrete, cheffing to managing staff. Most of my working life has been in transport. Prior to retirement I was the Operations Manager for a local SME managing staff working for a number of train companies and London Underground. Part of my duties included Health and Safety having taken a NEBOSH course and the Project Management of our new Office and Bike Shop installations.

I moved to Broadstairs in 1978 with my wife. We now live in a bungalow with a large garden that we are slowly making wildlife friendly. We have a bird and hedgehog area, have recently planted a new Blackthorn hedge and are just about to start digging a pond.

I joined the Observatory in 2016; joining the ringing group to get a better view of birds and to improve my knowledge. The more involved I have become the more in awe I am of birds.

I hope to be able to make a positive input to the Observatory.
