For around ten years SBBOT leased these two fields, once of which had a pool designed for Dragonflies and Damselflies. Not long after the extremely rare Dainty Damselfly was discovered breeding in the pond we were given the opportunity to purchase the fields - an opportunity we jumped at.

With a great deal of help new ponds were dug, paths and a nature trail constructed, and many trees planted. (See the archives for more detail).

The area is not just great for Odonata but for many invertebrates, amphibians and reptiles as well as wildflowers including orchids.

The Jubilee field is mostly planted with now mature hawthorns and has become a natural feeding station for migrants. The Dragonfly field is beginning to settle down after all the groundworks and we have high hopes for expanding breeding of Dainty Damselfly and other odonates.
