Record emergence dates continue to fall. This time two Blue-tailed Damselflies on RSPB Worth marshes were the earliest ever (previously 28th April 2017).

Thursday 18th

There was some nice sunshine mid-morning on RSPB Worth marshes and it produced a number of Damselflies along the edge of the Great Wood, namely our first three Large Red Damselflies and two Common Blue Damselflies. A Variable Damselfly was also seen elsewhere on site. Both of the latter two species are our earliest ever records!

Saturday 13th

Three Hairy Dragonflies at Mary Bax were our first Odonata of the year, and not only that, but our earliest ever records of this species (previously 18th April in 2014).
