For the 2026 season our organised and led mid-week walks will be available at a fee of £6 per person - please book in advance (links below)

Please check the meeting time and place for each walk below.

Most take place on Wednesday but sometimes it is other weekdays.

Cost £6 per person for local walks, but longer outings with off-site walks may be charged more as there may be organised transport costs or local charges such as for boat tickets or reserve entrance fees.

Please note that as our walks are mostly on nature reserves, dogs will not be able to attend our guided walks (except guide dogs). The usual charge is £6 unless otherwise advertised and, of course, donations are always welcome. Numbers strictly limited to 15 people for each walk

Morning Walk : Rye Harbour Nature Reserve

Starting at the Reserve Car Park, this walk will head down river to the Visitor Centre, before exploring this extensive Reserve looking for migrants and the breeding colonies of Terns and Gulls, in addition to resident waders and breeding passerines.

Morning Walk : Dragonflies at Sandwich Bay

This walk will explore several sites around the Sandwich Bay Estate looking for numerous species of dragonflies and damselflies (Odonata) that have been recorded on the Estate.

Evening Walk : Conyer Creek and Marshes

Conyer Creek is a site of an old extensive brick yard that has been allowed to re-wild and is now home to breeding Turtle Doves and Nightingales, in addition to breeding Warblers (Common and Lesser Whitethroats, etc). The adjacent salt marshes and creeks hold several species of waders at this time in addition to a breeding colony of Mediterranean Gulls.

This evening's walk will explore the footpaths around the reedbeds, main lake and alder woods looking for summer breeding warblers, water birds, Common Terns and possibly late migrant waders.

We will meet at Oare Marshes KWT Car Park at 6.30 p.m. for a 2 1/2  hour walk. Our target bird species will include Waders, Wildfowl and Reedbed specialists as well as potential Turtle Dove and Barn Owl.

After meeting at Pegwell Bay Country Park Car Park, we will begin our approx. 2 1/2  hour walk looking across the mud flats for migrant waders and wildfowl, Gulls, Terns, and also explore the bushes, etc in the Country Park looking for warblers, finches, tits, etc.
