Bob Dean

Bob Dean – Treasurer

Unlike most of my colleagues, I am no great expert in Natural History. I was brought up in the Harrow area of Middlesex. When I went to Grammar School I was interested in several aspects of Natural History. However, this was bullied out of me by the Biology teacher and I lost interest. At this time I was very interested in Scouting and was a Queen’s Scout and later a Venture Scout Leader. I took a “Sandwich” degree in Business Studies and then qualified as a Chartered Management Accountant. I have been Financial Director and/or Company Secretary of several companies in East Kent.

When I moved to Kent nearly forty years ago I became very busy with work, my two sons and Helen, my wife (probably in that order, I am ashamed to say).

My main contribution at the Observatory has been trying to make our systems work a little better, whilst being Treasurer.
