The night temperatures climb steadily and remained at 9.3°C last night. This failed to impress larger moths and the only records were two Acleris hastiana and an Agonopterix alstromeriana.
The warm days are still not reflected in the night temperatures which still dropped to 0.4°C. Once again there were three moths of which a Satellite was new for the year.
The nights are not listening to the forecasts and the temperature dropped to -0.6°C. However there were still three moths. Two Pale Brindled Beauties and an Agonotrix alstromeriana all of which were new for the year.
Three moths last night. Another A.hastiana, an Early Moth and the Bay’s second record of Spring Usher. The latter is possibly a reflection of how few opportunities there are to run the trap at this time of year.
The forecast of milder nights tempted the trap out of hibernation but the temperature still dropped to 4.2°C. The only moth was the tortrix Acleris hastiana.
