SUMMARY:Mid-week Morning Walk: Dungeness
DESCRIPTION:Walk Leader : Phil Poole \nWe will start the walk from the Car Park at the ARC pits (opposite entrance to RSPB Dungeness reserve). After visiting the Hanson Hide overlooking the ARC pits dependent upon weather conditions we may visit the fishing boats near Dungeness Lighthouse for a a brief sea-watch\, before  proceeding to the RSPB Dungeness Visitor Centre to view Burrows Pit and walk around the Reserve. There will be a lunch-time stop about 12.30pm\, with the option of further birding around the Reserve until about 3.30pm. A wide variety of birds should be found during the day\, including resident and over-wintering sea-birds\, waders\, wildfowl\, herons\, raptors and passerines.

DESCRIPTION:As part of SBBOT's Christmas Fayre\, we are hosting a Children's Christmas Lego Decoration Workshop on Sunday 7th December\, with workshops at 10am\, 11.30am and 1pm. £7.50 per child to include a festive Lego decoration to take home. \n \nA hoot for all\, we will provide all the materials needed to create your own special\, festive Robin decoration out of bricks! On completion of your decoration\, you will be provided with a Garden Birds Spotters Guide to take home and you are more than willing to borrow a pair of our binoculars and explore our reserve.\n\nThis workshop is part of the Observatory’s Christmas Fayre\, where you can treat yourself to hot seasonal beverages of your choice along with festive sweet treats\, as well as stocking up on some gifts! DESCRIPTION:11th December - Sharing thin air: birds\, herds\, and people of Dhaulagiri Himalayas of western Nepal by Joy Stephens  \nJoy lived in Nepal for 20 years\, working in community development. The Dhaulagiri Himalayas are a stunning mountain range yet one of the least touristed and developed areas - home to the elusive snow leopard\, red panda and a variety of high-altitude birds. DESCRIPTION:Walk Leader Phil Poole \nAn afternoon walk starting from the Grove Ferry end of Stodmarsh NNR we will walk past the Ramp and onwards towards Marsh Hide\, before returning in the opposite direction. Our aim will be to see wintering wildfowl\, and then Marsh and Hen Harriers as they come in to roost in the reedbeds and Woodcock as at dusk they come out of roost to feed overnight on the meadows.
