This is a quiet time of year for Dragonflies and Damselflies.

We have had occasional sightings which are listed below, but things should pick up again from April onwards.

Friday November 3rd

As mentioned in our last update we’re only seeing Migrant Hawkers and Common Darters on the wing now, with the latter the commoner of the two. Hopes remain high though for a late surprise, a Vagrant Emperor would do nicely!

Monday October 2nd

Although Migrant Hawker and Common Darter have been standard fare for the last couple of weeks a Willow Emerald Damselfly was found in the Elms this morning. Unlike the green individuals we have been used to seeing this was copper-coloured on abdomen and thorax; perhaps a feature of older individuals in autumn.
