Friday 18th

Despite the north easterly breeze there was enough sun to tempt a few butterflies out in sheltered spots, including a handful of Small Coppers, Speckled Woods, and a solitary Clouded Yellow along the Ancient Highway/Guilford Rd.

Tuesday 15th

A very hot walk around New Downs saw two Red Admirals, a Peacock, 31 Small Whites, two Speckled Woods, ten Small Heaths, seven Common Blues, and best of all, four Clouded Yellows.

Monday 14th

Despite the overnight cool the daytime temperatures maxed out at 25 degrees. The BMS transect recorded 36 butterflies as the seen draws to an end. Small Whites were most numerous with 17 but a fresh Wall Brown at the top of King’s Avenue was a nice spot. A Clouded Yellow was seen near the The Elms yesterday.

Friday 4th

There were four species on Worth marshes this morning but only Small Whites were numerous, with 15 seen.
