After the rain and cloud disappeared there was a small surge of butterfly activity. At least 13 Red Admirals, one Large White, one Small White, one Small Copper, one Comma, and three Speckled Woods were recorded.
Despite the increasing wind it was warm in places and so butterflies were about. A pocket near the Little Elms held 18 Red Admirals and a Comma.
The invertebrate season begins to draw to a close. A few Peacocks, Speckled Woods, and Painted Ladies were seen on New Downs and Worth today but it’s getting harder to find butterflies, especially with the recent weather.
