Sunday 23rd
Despite the breeze it was clear a new emergence of Small Copper was underway, with good numbers on the Estate. There are plenty of ‘whites’ around too with Green-veined and Large found among the large numbers of Small White in the Whitehouse area.

Thursday 20th
Two Clouded Yellows were on the Estate today, one near Middle Field and another along the Ancient Highway near Restharrow Scrape, and another on Worth.
Wednesday 19th
There were singles of Clouded Yellow and Painted Lady on Worth marshes his morning, before the rain and wind curtailed things.
Thursday 13th
Another Clouded Yellow was seen on New Downs among large numbers of Small Whites, whilst a Painted Lady was at Sandilands.

Tuesday 11th
A Clouded Yellow was on the Estate.
Thursday 6th
There were 241 butterflies on today’s BMS transect. Again the majority were Gatekeepers with 144 recorded. Common Blues are emerging in numbers now and the Whitehouse paddock was particularly good for them. There was also a late Small/Essex Skipper.
Tuesday 4th
Another Wall was at the top of King’s Avenue.
Sunday 2nd
After spending the last few years bemoaning the lack of Walls it seems strange to be writing that they’re doing well this year. There were four different individuals on the Estate this morning, another on Worth, and another on the Green Wall.
