Monday 29th
A chance to sneak in the BMS transect proved fruitful with 39 butterflies of ten species present on the Estate today. Of note were Holly Blue and Large White, 12 Green-veined Whites, and a Painted Lady.
Friday 26th
Seven Orange-tips on Worth marshes this morning was a decent count.

Monday 22nd
Another early stroll around Worth marshes was lovely but mostly before the butterflies rose out of bed. However on the way back five Peacocks, two Orange-tips, and five Green-veined Whites were on show.
Sunday 21st
Two Brimstones, three Orange-tips, five Green-veined Whites, four Holly Blues, six Peacocks, and a Comma were good counts from Worth whilst 12 Speckled Woods were on the Estate, and two Small Coppers were seen along the Point.
Saturday 20th
An afternoon wander along the Green Wall produced 14 Green-veined Whites, two Orange-tips, one Peacock and two Speckled Woods.
Friday 19th
The weather was finally good enough to kickstart the BMS transect. The total of 17 butterflies was a decent start and included our second Small Copper of the year. Elsewhere on the Estate 12 Speckled Woods and ten Peacocks provided the quantity, and a male Brimstone wandering along the Guilford Rd provided the quality.
Thursday 18th
Brimstones were found on New Downs and the Estate, with a Small Copper also on the latter; both new for the year.
Wednesday 17th
A similar diversity to yesterday with two Peacocks, a Speckled Wood, and a Green-veined White on New Downs. On the Estate two Orange-tips were in Middle Field.

Tuesday 16th
They keep coming. On the Estate a Comma, two Red Admirals, a Small White, a Green-veined White, a Large White, a Speckled Wood, and two Peacocks were spied.
Monday 15th
The best day of the year so far with two Speckled Woods, one Large White, and one Red Admiral on the Estate, two Green-veined Whites, one Small Tortoiseshell, and one Peacock on Worth, and a Comma on the Green Wall.
Sunday 14th
Despite the cold conditions it was sunny and the year’s first Green-veined White appeared along the Worth track.
Wednesday 10th
A bit of sunshine for the first time in a while produced our second Orange-tip of the year around the Great Wood on Worth and a Large White in Middle Field.
Friday 5th
Our first Large White snuck out to play briefly in the Elms today.
Monday 1st
They keep coming. Our first Speckled Wood of the year appeared on the Estate today.
