{"id":915,"date":"2022-06-02T06:17:48","date_gmt":"2022-06-02T06:17:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sandwichbaybirdobservatorytrust.org.uk\/sitefiles\/?p=915"},"modified":"2022-08-13T16:24:02","modified_gmt":"2022-08-13T16:24:02","slug":"butterflies-march-2022","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sbbot.org.uk\/2026\/butterflies-march-2022\/","title":{"rendered":"Butterflies: March 2022"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Thursday 24th<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Our first <strong>Orange-tip<\/strong> of the year was on the Estate.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Wednesday 23rd<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Small Whites were on Worth marshes and New Downs.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Monday 21st<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>There were six each of Peacock and Small Tortoiseshell on Worth marshes, and a Comma on the Estate.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Friday 18th<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A Peacock and three Small Tortoiseshells were on New Downs and another Peacock was seen on the Estate.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Thursday 17th<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A Comma and three Red Admirals were seen on the Estate today and a <strong>Small White<\/strong> was on the Green Wall, just shy of our earliest ever record (15th March 2017).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Monday 14th<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The good weather continues to tempt a few butterflies out. A Small Tortoiseshell and two Peacocks were on the Estate and the year's first <strong>Comma<\/strong> was on New Downs.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tuesday 8th<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A Peacock was on Worth marshes.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Thursday 3rd<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A <strong>Small Tortoiseshell<\/strong> on Worth marshes was our first record of the year. A few Red Admirals and a Peacock were also seen in February.
