Monday 29th<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

A male Brimstone was in the Observatory garden.<\/span><\/p>\n

Sunday 21st<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

The next generation of Wall was underway with six seen on RSPB Worth marshes.<\/span><\/p>\n

Friday 19th<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

This week's BMS Transect on the Estate recorded 475 butterflies of 14 species. Gatekeepers, as expected, were the most numerous species with 230 present in the heat. Small\/Essex Skippers had a drop from the previous week to 130. Just the one Common Blue was observed whilst there appeared to be a few more Red Admirals around.<\/span><\/p>\n

Monday 15th<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Though exciting, the sighting of a<\/span> WHITE-LETTER HAIRSTREAK<\/span><\/strong> in The Elms was perhaps not too surprising given the recent discovery of small colonies elsewhere in the Recording Area and locally in East Kent<\/span>.<\/p>\n

Thursday 11th<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Just over 350 butterflies on the BMS transect this week. As usual, Small\/Essex Skipper and Meadow Brown led the charge, with just over double-figures of Marbled White. Gatekeepers are beginning to get under way, we should expect triple-figures of the next couple of transects when they hit their stride.<\/span><\/p>\n

Thursday 4th<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

The BMS Transect was squeezed in before it got too windy. Just over 250 butterflies were recorded, most of which either Small\/Essex Skippers or Meadow Browns. There were disappointing numbers of Marbled White. The next generation of 'whites' and Small Copper were seen.<\/span><\/p>\n
