Sunday 30th<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Five Walls were the highlight on Worth, but also two Common Blues, one Brown Argus, 25 Gatekeepers, ten Meadow Browns,\u00a0 six Peacocks, four Red Admirals, and two Small Tortoiseshells.<\/span><\/p>\n

Wednesday 26th<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

This weeks transect numbered 454. There was good diversity once again with Brimstone recorded for the second week in a row. There was a good count of 55 Small Whites, however, Green-veined White seems to be having a bad year with one near The Elms the first on the transect this year.<\/span><\/p>\n

Friday 21st<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Another Clouded Yellow was on New Downs.<\/span><\/p>\n

Tuesday 18th<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

The BMS Transect was even better with 567 individuals of 17 species. Gatekeeper was unsurprisingly the most numerous with 234, followed by Meadow Brown with 106. A male Brimstone was at the Observatory and around 50 Red Admiral larvae were seen together on the Green Wall.<\/span><\/p>\n

Sunday 16th<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

The year's first three Clouded Yellows<\/strong> were in Pegwell Bay.<\/span><\/p>\n

Tuesday 11th<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

There seemed to have been an emergence of Red Admirals with 22 in the The Elms alone.<\/span><\/p>\n

Friday 7th<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Today's BMS Transect was busy again with 470 butterflies logged. Small\/Essex Skippers led the way with 179 whilst 19 Small Coppers was a decent count.<\/span><\/p>\n

Wednesday 5th<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

An impressive walk on the Green Wall produced 11 Red Admirals, two Peacocks, seven Commas, one Painted Lady, two Small Tortoiseshells, four Small\/Essex Skippers, one Large Skipper, three Holly Blues, one Speckled Wood, two Large Whites, 17 Small Whites, two Green-veined Whites, four Marbled Whites, two Gatekeepers, 18 Meadow Browns, and best of all, a new colony of WHITE-LETTER HAIRSTREAK<\/strong><\/span>. The latter was seen in the Elm canopy at TR34085796 and is only the second colony for the SBBOT area, after it's discovery last year across the river at Pegwell Bay.<\/span><\/p>\n
