It's quite an amazing turnaround after how perilous the population looked five years or so back.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_14200\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-14200\" style=\"width: 790px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-14200 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/sbbot.org.uk\/2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG-20260424-WA0014-1024x682.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"790\" height=\"526\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sbbot.org.uk\/2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG-20260424-WA0014-1024x682.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/sbbot.org.uk\/2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG-20260424-WA0014-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/sbbot.org.uk\/2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG-20260424-WA0014-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/sbbot.org.uk\/2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG-20260424-WA0014.jpg 1280w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 790px) 100vw, 790px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-14200\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Mating Wall butterflies by A.Lipczynski<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Monday 27th<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Ten species on the Estate today with one Large White, two Small Whites, two Green-veined Whites, two Orange-tips, four Small Coppers, one Holly Blue, three Red Admirals, one Peacock, four Speckled Woods, and six Walls.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Thursday 23rd<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Despite the wind, a Butterfly Monitoring Scheme transect revealed 46 Butterflies across the Estate, notably eight Small Coppers, two Painted Ladies, and our first <strong>Wall Brown <\/strong>of the year.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Wednesday 22nd<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">A quick walk around the Oasis produced a Painted Lady, a Speckled Wood, two Peacocks, five Small Whites, and two Orange-tips.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Tuesday 14th<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Four Green-veined Whites, one Orange-tip, six Peacocks, one Red Admiral, and six Speckled Woods were on Worth, five Green-veined Whites, one Small White, three Peacocks, and four Speckled Woods were at the Point, and three Green-veined Whites, two Painted Ladies, one Peacock, and one Orange-tip were on New Downs.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Sunday 12th<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The first two <strong>Painted Ladies<\/strong> of the year must have arrived on the southerly breeze earlier.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Wednesday 8th<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Our first butterfly transect of the year was productive enough for this early in the season. There were ten Peacocks, two Speckled Woods, one Green-veined White, and one Comma. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Tuesday 7th<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Our first <strong>Small White<\/strong> was on the Green Wall.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Monday 6th<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Many butterflies were awakened by the spring sunshine. RSPB Worth Marshes had ten Peacocks, five Speckled Woods, and two Green-veined Whites.
