Flora: April / May 2018
Some beautiful Wildflowers have started cropping up around the recording area! The most obvious when you walk around are the patches of Violets. The Elms has a fabulous purple carpet at the moment… quite a sight!

Everywhere we walk we seem to come across Red Dead Nettle, and some places White Dead Nettle. Quite pretty once you get up close and personal with them, yet often overlooked!
The Elms has also come alive with swathes of Celandine shining when the sun makes it’s way through the canopy, interspersed with Green Alkanet.
Once you notice the beautiful Periwinkle and the tiny Chickweed you start seeing it everywhere!
The next photos in this selection are a little more difficult to come by and are dotted around the recording area. Early Forget-me-not was located along the seafront, Honesty in the Elms and Fumitory was starting to crop up in Middle Field.
The first Cow Parsley was found in Middle Field along with this impressive patch of Field Horsetail! Definitely put a smile on our face.
Some lovely colour variations of Green-winged Orchids out around the Whitehouse and on Royal St. George’s Golf Course as you walk from the Observatory to the beach!
