Flora: July 2019
A glorious walk along the Estate Beach was striking today, the shoreline bursting with colour. The Yellow Horned-poppies really catch the eye! Sadly most of the Broomrapes and Lizard Orchids have gone over now except for a few that are still hanging on, making the Yellow Rattle one of the most prominent features of the duneland. Pyramidal Orchids have sprung up amongst the swathes of Hedge and Lady Bedstraw.
Viper’s-Bugloss has transformed some of the recording area into a sea of blue and in the Whitehouse the Southern Marsh-orchids are past their best and are being replaced by large clusters of Marsh Helleborines. We will be commencing a count of them shortly!
