Monday 22nd

The first Willow Emeralds of the year were found on Worth at the weekend.

Tuesday 16th

A whizz round the Estate doing the butterfly transect also brought six Ruddy and four Red-veined Darters around the grasslands, a Migrant Hawker in the Elms, and our first two Brown Hawkers of the year were along the Haven and in Middle Field.

Thursday 11th

A pretty thorough survey of the Estate pools brought counts of two Red-eyed Damselflies, 275 Small Red-eyed Damselflies, 45 Blue-tailed Damselflies, two Variable Damselflies, 21 Emerald Damselflies, 55 Common Blue Damselflies, 18 Emperors, 17 Black-tailed Skimmers, one Four-spotted Chaser, 14 Red-veined Darters, ten Ruddy Darters, two Common Darters, and one Migrant Hawker.

Monday 8th

Another wander along the Point produced a Red-veined Darter again and a few Red-eyed and Small Red-eyed Damselflies on the new pools on Prince’s Golf Course.

Sunday 7th

Two Red-veined Darters were along Prince’s Beach this afternoon.

Saturday 6th

The Dragonfly pond was nice and busy in the morning sun with six species including the first Four-spotted Chaser for a few weeks. A NORFOLK HAWKER was out again on Worth along the Delf Stream (specifically near the wooden bridge).

Friday 5th

Three NORFOLK HAWKERS on Worth this morning are further proof of it’s residency in the area these days.

Thursday 4th

A nice male Red-veined Darter was on New Downs.

Wednesday 3rd

Odonata on the Green Wall were not numerous this morning but a fair few Ruddy Darters were around and a late-ish Banded Demoiselle.

Tuesday 2nd

It’s not just the rare species that get counted with 155 Blue-tailed Damselflies logged on the Dragonfly Pond this morning. Two Small Red-eyed and four Red-eyed Damselflies were in Middle Field and another two Red-veined Darters were stumbled across on the Estate whilst doing the butterfly transect.

Monday 1st

A trip to a private site nearby proved the continued presence of Scarce Emerald Damselflies with 23 counted. Elsewhere there were three Red-veined Darters on the Estate.
