It was good weather for the BMS Transect today. There were 42 butterflies of nine species. Most numerous were Small Heath and Common Blue with 14 and 13 respectively.
A good morning with 12 Common Blues, two Small Coppers, two Large Whites, one Small White, one Peacock, and two Red Admirals around the Whitehouse area.
Four Brown Argus, five Common Blues, two Red Admirals, one Speckled Wood, one Holly Blue, two Large Whites, and three Small Whites were seen on the Green Wall late morning.
It was pleasant on New Downs with at least eight Red Admirals and small numbers of ‘whites’ present.
Five Holly Blues and three Orange-tips were nice to see on the Estate.
A chance to do the BMS transect today logged 20 butterflies. The first Common Blues and Brown Argus of the year were the highlights.
Still not lots of butterflies to report on but today on Worth there were six Green-veined Whites, one Small White, two Orange-tips, six Red Admirals, and six Peacocks. Meanwhile on the Estate there were 15 Small Coppers, four Orange-tips, one Peacock, two Holly Blues, and the first two Small Heaths of the year.
