Sandwich Bay Wildlife Explorers (WEX)
This is a group run for 8 to 12 year olds in conjunction with the RSPB. The aim is to bring nature to life by having fun with lots of hands on activities.
Events take place in and around the Field Centre (unless otherwise indicated) on the last Saturday of the month from 10.00 till 14.00 and costs just £3.00 each session per child. Please bring along a packed lunch.
In order to take part children must be registered with SBBOT (find Membership details here). Events will be limited to 20 children and will be allocated on a first-come-first-served basis. Consent forms must be completed before children attend their first monthly meeting. No-one can be accepted without these. Please email email@example.com to request registration forms.
Leaders Margaret Douet, Jane Relton, Duncn McLean and Lesley Lovelady are all first aid trained and CRB checked and covered by the RSPB’s insurance and support unit. If you would like to talk to someone about the way your group is run and how you are treated please call the RSPB on 0800 9178566 open between 9am and 5pm Monday to Friday to speak to someone, there is an answerphone at all other times.
Each month has a theme (listed below) and we also try to visit the Ringing Room, look at the moths caught overnight and go out for a walk on the reserves if weather permits. Therefore please ensure your child wears suitable footwear and clothing that doesn’t matter if it gets dirty or spoiled.
