RSPB Phoenix Group

RSPB Phoenix GroupRSPB logo

This is a group run for 13 to 18 year olds in conjunction with the RSPB. The aim is to bring nature to life by having fun with lots of hands on activities.

Events take place in and around the Field Centre (unless otherwise indicated) on the last Saturday of the month from 10.00 till 14.00 and costs just £3.00 each session per person.

In order to take part young people must be registered with SBBOT. Please email info@sbbot.org.uk to register your interest and request registration forms. Events will be limited to 20 young people so please contact us as soon as possible.

Group Leaders Yvonne Lewis-Cutt and Peter Dean are first aid trained and DBS checked and covered by the RSPB’s insurance and support unit. If you would like to talk to someone about the way your group is run and how you are treated please call the RSPB on 0800 9178566 open between 9am and 5pm Monday to Friday to speak to someone, there is an answerphone at all other times.

Each meeting will follow a similar pattern. We will get to know the area by going to different places. Including visits to the ringing room, when weather permits, to observe the ringing process, learn identification tips and aging criteria, also examine any interesting moths that may have been caught the previous night.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: In the light of the Government press conference on the 16th March, we have decided to close the Field Centre and suspend all organised activities of the Bird Observatory for the foreseeable future. Reserves open as usual.

Therefore Phoenix group meetings will (hopefully) resume in January 2021.
