As an accredited bird observatory and registered charity SBBOT is committed to the conservation and recording of the natural environment in the Sandwich Bay area, and in so doing offer opportunities for education, training and research.
We have a programme of weekly events for members and non-members including walks, talks and workshops.
Please see our events for more information.
As well as birds, we also have particular interests in the butterflies, dragonflies, moths and unique flora of the area.
The Field Centre is a modern, well equipped building with accommodation for visitors to the area plus other facilities including a well stocked shop for naturalists.
As an independent charity we rely on the support of our members and volunteers to maintain the Field Centre (open 10.00 – 16.00, 7 days a week) and our reserves.
Information regarding the species recorded in and around Sandwich Bay and Pegwell Bay can be found here.
The Field Centre is open to the public seven days a week:
10.00am to 4.00pm from April to October.
November to March from 10.00am to 1.00pm Sunday - Friday and 10.00 to 4.00pm on Saturdays.
Times may vary slightly since we depend on volunteers to keep the centre open.
